This study is being done to identify the causes of giant cell myocarditis (severe inflammation of the heart).
Giant cell myocarditis is a serious disease of the heart that often causes death or need for a heart transplant. It is a rare disease, which has made it difficult to be certain regarding the best treatment.
Men or women over the age of 18 are suspected of having Giant Cell Myocarditis may be eligible to participate in this research study.
Qualified participants will have blood drawn for research on the causes of myocarditis. Participants will have 3
tablespoons (45ml) of blood drawn for research tests. If the research tests need to be done a second time participants will be asked to have a second blood draw about two months later. The maximum number of times blood may be drawn for this study is twice.
Participants will be enrolled in this research study for approximately two months.
