Aortic Valve Operative Outcomes in Marfan Patients

Why is this study being done?

Information collected from this study will help doctors and patients understand which type of Aortic Surgery (composite graft versus valve sparing) is the most appropriate for each individual patient with Marfan syndrome. Choosing the right operative procedure is important to reduce postoperative complications and ensure better survival.

Who is Eligible to Participate in the Study?

This study involves adult and pediatric patients under the age of 65 with Marfan syndrome who need operations to replace or repair their aorta.

What is Involved With this Study?

When a patient enrolls in this study their medical history will be recorded, a blood and tissue sample will be collected at the time of their surgery, and echocardiograms will be done before surgery, after surgery, at 6-months and yearly for 3 years.

How long will the Study run?

Data will be collected on patients for 3 years.
